Overachieving Teacher: Food Cart Friday

Today’s overachieving teacher is Sarah Allen and she is planning on using the money to provide a “Food Cart Friday” program for students! Read what she wrote below.

“Being in a specialized behavior unit, our needs are different than those in a general education setting. With this money, we would purchase supplies to continue our “Food Cart Friday” program. Once a week, we look up recipes, plan a grocery list (the teacher does the shopping) clean our cart and cook the recipe. Students work together to make and follow the recipe and then we push our cart around the school asking staff if they would like to try what the students have made. During this time students work on their communication skills, accepting no, waiting, taking turns and using their manners”
